The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is an economic immigration program that nominates people for permanent residence in a particular province. According to the 2020 Annual report to the Parliament on immigration, "there were 68,647 people selected through the Provincial Nominee Program in 2019, the highest number since the program's launch." This number is expected to rise to 83,000 by 2023 as per the Canadian Governments' 2021-2023 immigration levels plan.
The Provincial Nominee Program acts as a highway for candidates who wish to settle permanently in a specific province, have the ability to contribute to the economic development and prosperity of that province. But their score in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) is not enough to get an ITA (Invitation to apply). There are more than 80 PNPs in Canada. Almost every participating province or territory has an aligned express entry stream within their PNP, helping applicants gain additional 600 points in CRS. It's a significant boost to make a candidate eligible for an express entry draw. Therefore, It is crucial to select the right PNP for your profile to maximize your chances of receiving a nomination certificate.
