The Self-employed person program allows a foreign national to immigrate to Canada permanently as a self-employed person. Foreign nationals must have relevant experience, intention, and ability to make a significant contribution to Canada's cultural or athletic life.
To be eligible under the self-employed class, the applicant must have a minimum of two years of experience in cultural activities or athletics in the last five years before the date of application submission.
A self-employed applicant must demonstrate the intention and ability to create his/her employment in Canada through cultural activities or athletics by providing business experience, business plan, partnerships, and finances. It is also intended that foreign nationals enrich Canadian culture and sports by making a significant contribution to specific economic activities.
In addition to it, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will access the applicant against the point system for the Self-Employed Persons Class. He/she must meet the minimum passing score.
