What is the Parents & Grandparents Sponsorship Program?
Parents & Grandparents Program (PGP) is designed to support the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada's (IRCC) objective of family reunification. It allows citizens or permanent residents of Canada to sponsor their parents or grandparents to become permanent residents of Canada along with their dependents.
In general, It opens only once per year. IRCC may occasionally have a second round of invitations if a maximum number of annual applications is not reached. Eligible sponsors must submit interest to sponsor form in the given time window announced by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada. Once the allocated time window is closed, IRCC reviews all submitted applications and makes a random selection of potential sponsors to issue invitations to apply. If you receive an invitation to submit a complete application, you can sponsor your parents and grandparents to become Canada's permanent residents. Also, you must establish that you will support them and their dependants financially and make sure they don’t need social assistance from the government
